5 Reasons Why Your Business Should Opt in to Getting Involved with Social Media

By Alissa Lundeen

There are various benefits to creating social media accounts for your business and being involved with them. In today's society, online platforms have taken hold of the generations. About 59% of the world’s population have some form of social media and that number is continually growing every year.

For some reason, many business owners opt out of creating social media accounts, either because they deem it unnecessary, or they don’t think it is worth the time and money. This thought process is what is causing so many businesses to lose thousands of dollars in revenue each year as well as potential customers. Creating social media for your business may be one of the smartest business decisions you will ever make and here’s why:

1. Increased Brand Awareness

Increased brand awareness is one of the most important benefits to having social media that’s out there. A single post has the potential to reach thousands, or even millions, of users anywhere around the world. Taking a few hours out of your work week to make some posts and get a little creative makes a huge difference!

2. Inexpensive & Cost Effective

Social media marketing can cost little to nothing, depending on how deep you are willing to go with your social. You can choose to post organically, which means very little costs and helps you establish your presence, or you can choose to pay for boosting posts and have paid promotional content that helps you reach a significant audience with immediate results.

3. Helps Generate Web Traffic

Social media can be a great resource to supplement your businesses and it can help generate a high amount of web traffic. This is especially important if you have a small or new business. If you use your social media posts to drive users to your website, they will have the opportunity to learn more about you and your business.

4. Keeping an Eye on Competition

Chances are your competition already has or will be getting social media platforms. This is actually a good thing as you will now be able to keep an eye on them. Seeing what your competition is posting and what they are succeeding as well as failing in gives you an advantage. It enables you to learn from them and be able to think ahead as to how you will make your business stand out and succeed in the future.

5. with Customers & Better Customer Satisfaction

Social media gives you the opportunity to reach a certain level of intimacy with your consumers that other marketing strategies can’t offer. This includes engaging with your audience through comment sections, direct messaging, and liking posts. Customers may comment on one of your posts complimenting a new product or they may reach out with a complaint on a bad service they experienced. If you respond to those types of things, it leaves a better impression on the customer and shows that you are not only paying attention to what they are saying, but you care enough to take action. This increases the likelihood of them continuing to support your business.

As a social media marketer working in the Advertising industry. I believe all of these things to be true because I’ve seen it first-hand. Social media marketing is one of the most beneficial forms of marketing and is not going away anytime soon. All of these points I talked about are vital when it comes to any business looking for success. If used correctly, social media will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made for your business.
