Reasons That Advertising is More Effective on Social Media

Updated: Oct 11, 2022

Advertising has been important for centuries. As time goes on, the way the advertisements get distributed change. Now, advertisements are a mix of billboards, posters, or even events. The most popular thing in the world is the internet. As time has gone on, advertisers have had to make changes on how to get their advertisements to the world whether that is through emails, texts, tweets, stories, or Facebook posts. What is nice about this is the variety that advertisers get to choose from. The downside is that it is harder to choose due to the specific targeted audience.

The most effective way is for advertisers is to stay online and promote there rather than paying more for physical copies like for places in a magazine or a billboard. Here are some reasons why advertising on social media is more effective than other strategies.

1. Wider Range of Audiences

Advertising on social media gives the user the freedom to use whatever app or website they'd like. You can find where your target audience is based on the apps you use. If a majority of your audience uses Twitter, using Twitter is the best option for you and your business, compared to using Facebook if there isn't an audience present.

2. Track ROI

People that advertise on social media have the access to directly track returns on investments from marketing campaigns. It makes it easy to track multiple campaigns and watch the spending for each one which will lead to better budgeting and more results.

3. Increase Brand Recognition

Marketing online helps improve the visibility to others. The key is to post content that your target audience wants to see and offer it on multiple platforms for easy access, and to also cover more ground. More posts on more platforms will reach more people’s eyes.

4. Cost-Effective

Social media is the most cost-effective way to advertise when compared to direct mail, TV, magazines, radio, and/or billboards. Running paid ads on Facebook or Twitter is relatively inexpensive. The lowest the CPM (cost per thousand impressions) on social media can be is $2.50.

5. Know where your competition is

No matter where you are at on social media, your competition will find its way to you. A good way to win audiences over is to be on the same platforms that your competition is on and try to post more often than them to show your presence to the audience that wants to see it.

Understanding these five steps will help you realize the benefits of advertising on social media. The internet is changing every day, so we need to make sure that we evolve our advertising skills too.
